I was racking my brain trying to remember your tailgate name and could not. I certainly remember the word “Coughing” and the meaning behind it! 🙂 You have a great group of tailgaters representing Mountaineer Football. Good luck the rest of the season. Congrats on the great win against Bowling Green, you have a very explosive offense! When I make it back to Morgantown I will certainly find you guys. If you are ever down Tennessee way please let me know.

Thanks so very much for the kind words about the “Coughing Corner” Mountaineer Tailgate. Bob and I are proud to know and share the tailgate with Papa John and Momma Cindy. (We have the other RV there). It was fun meeting you and we were glad you and others from LSU joined our tailgate. Great pics too! Hope to see you in Morgantown WV in the future.

Sun, 02 Oct 2011 14:36:41 +0000http://prosportsetc.com/blog/?p=702#comment-2363Karen, sorry you ran into some bad experiences. It reminds me of bad Tiger Fans I’ve seen over the years. Now that I’m older if I see a drunk Tiger Fan getting rude to an opposing fan I always step in and if need to will get an officer over to calm things down. There is just too much fun in the whole college football game day experience to let a small number of young fans ruin the day for anyone. I’m glad Skip Bertman and LSU started putting an emphasis on rooting out the bad fans who would show up on campus at LSU in the 1990’s. Once LSU got serious about fixing the problem our game day experience for visiting fans the past 10 years has been much better. I hope all schools that have similar problems can step up their effort to correct any recurring problems that exist on any college football campuses. Thanks for sharing your comments!

Sun, 02 Oct 2011 14:20:16 +0000http://prosportsetc.com/blog/?p=702#comment-2362Thank you for your comments Lori Ann, I’m sorry you had a bad experience. I had a similar experience to you in Little Rock, Arkansas back in 2004 from Arkansas Razorback fans. They too were all young fans but not sure if they were students or not. Yes, it is frightening when young fans get out of control after drinking a lot of alcohol. My experience there was after the game when we lost a close game. I know personally how these types of experiences can be quite frightening. I’m happy to say my experience in Morgantown was exceptional mainly due to the great tailgaters I spent most of the day with. They are great ambassadors for West Virginia Football. I do wish there could be a national effort by all Universities to eliminate the unruly fans who seek out to harm innocent football fans attending road games. The very high majority and I’m going to say easily over 95% of college football fans wish no harm on visiting fans. If we could just crack down and eliminate this small group of hooligans then all college football game day experiences would be great! I have also committed to not let a few crazy Razorback fans keep me from attending college football road games. There’s just way too many great folks from opposing teams you get to meet and share football stories with to let a bad experience rob me from what I love most, great College game day football!

Pop John & Momma Cindy along with their friends put on one of the best tailgates I’ve ever visited during a road game. I got to witness the best college football has to offer last Saturday visiting Morgantown for the LSU at West Virginia football game!

I now live in Upstate New York, but am SO proud to have grown up a Mountaineer and wish I could have been there to meet you! You see, Those kind people that know how to tailgate are fondly refered to by SO, SO many people as “Pop Pop John” and “Momma Cindy” Parson. I am very proud to say that they are my sister and brother-in-law!
Hate that I missed the game……. Kermit

The WV alumi (oldtimers) were very friendly however, the students were ugly and brutal!!!! They pushed us tossed beer cans at us when we got of the bus.. Cursed us with words i never heard….This was before the game so, I was really scared after the game when… we WON!!! We will never go back!
